How do you define Capitalism, Socialism and Communism in one line?

Capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production, while socialism is the communal or government ownership of the means of production, and communism is the communal ownership of the means of production in an envisioned stateless, moneyless, classless, post-scarcity society.

Capitalism provides people with what they want, Socialism provides people with what government planners think they should want, Communism doesn’t work unless people are redesigned.

In theory:

Capitalism - The best way to work with exploitation is to allow anyone to do it, too.

Socialism - The best way to stop exploitation is to have something, such as government, assuring fairness.

Communism - The best way to avoid exploitation is to not need exploitation.

In practice:

Capitalism - Business exploits, blaming government.

Socialism - Business and government exploits, blaming each other.

Communism - Government exploits, blaming business.

But there are many forms of each, remember that. Some forms of communism have no government, and some forms of capitalism require government. It’s not that simple.

Capitalism: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, privatise the lemonade and then sell the lemonade at extortionate prices and then use that money to buy more lemon trees.

Socialism: When life gives you lemons, nationalise the lemons and share them out among your friends so they can use those lemons however they please.

Communism: Free lemonade for all!

Many peoples who doesn’t know anything about the ideology answer the question and speak of it as if they know it so well , I’ll give my opinion:

Capitalism:When you make other peoples do stuffs for you and you profit from their work , Socialize the risk.

Socialism:When you work together to produce stuff and profit together if you success , if.

Communism:When you produce stuffs for no financial incentives , just for self-sufficiency or communal support.

Capitalism: I have a rich daddy. You work at Wallmart. I own you.

Socialism: My rich daddy’s rich, but the government makes us pay you a living wage and will steal all my inheritance.

Communism: Stalin killed by rich daddy. We all work at Stalinmart.

Capitalism: I worked harder and smarter than you so I have 2 coats and you have none since you were lazy.

Socialism: I worked harder and smarter than you but we both have 1 coat since even though you were lazy, the government thinks we should be equals.

Communism: (the economic application of socialism) Everyone gets a coat once the workers-owned inefficient firms actually manage to produce them.

Capitalism - Taxation is theft! The free market can do anything better than gummint, dagnabit!

Socialism - Those who work in the mills ought to own them.

Communism - Let’s get rid of all these stupid hierarchies and collectively make decisions, comrade?

This is a tough one, in part because you are talking about overlapping concepts as if they were distinct… I could do each in one word (and sound more accusatory than is meant) or in more than one short sentence each. Maybe I’ll try the ‘cow’ thing someone else (who got it hilariously wrong) did.

Capitalism — Get as many cows as possible, whether by hard work or by mass exploitation… you’ll only be judged on how many, even it’s vastly more than you could ever humanly use yourself.

Socialism — We set aside a small percentage of the cow’s milk to raise the funds needed to hire some folk to maintain paths that make raising cows less risky and more fruitful.

Communism — Here’s now many cows and much cow milk we have, so let’s cooperate on their care and make sure everyone has access to their products.

The main flaw in the question is that you assert that they are separate… but they are not. Capitalism doesn’t function well without a socialist framework providing the means by which to seek and sequester capital… and modern communist states do the same, while also frolicking in capitalism, too.

You’d have more luck trying to define successful and unsuccessful combinations of these various things and trying to understand how their combinations did or did not work.

I’ll need a little more than a single line:

Capitalism: An economic regime in which a few people own the means of production and rent wage labour by a smaller value than it’s worth. Production’s goal is profit.

Socialism: An umbrella name for a wide range of left wing schools of thought; a Socialist State or government is one that supposedly applies one of those. It’s possible for a country to have a socialist government and a capitalist economic system.

Communism: An utopia in which the means of production are communal, there’s no government, no bosses, no class differences, everyone works only as much as they can, and everyone receives what they need. It might also be used as a different name for Marxist Socialism.

Obs.: Some of the other answers imply that Capitalism is the system in which the best worker gets the best results. That’s called meritocracy, not capitalism. Some socialist and liberal currents try to reform Capitalism in order to achieve that. Either way, a Capitalist society might either have rigid class systems that ensures the same people are always on top, no matter what they do, or it might have great social mobility, that lets poor, hard-working people become rich while lazy, stupid heirs become poor. It’s not a Capitalist feature, unless in relative terms when compared to Feudalism.
