Context

You look back. You look back because that is where the answers lie. (所在之处)You look back to understand the present.

From your vantage point(从你的有利地型) the present is unstable, a confusing clamor 喧闹of competing voices. It is only by casting your mind back把思绪带回to an earlier time, a time when the plans were being drawn up(draw a plan), that the present regains its stability.

The earlier time was a simpler time. It was a time of blueprints(蓝图). As you look back, you begin to see these blueprints emerge. You realize what the initial intentions(初心) were. These blueprints or intentions have since become so embellished that they are almost unrecognizable, but now this Context theme reveals them again.

This understanding brings you confidence. No longer disoriented(排除干扰), you make better decisions because you sense the underlying structure(核心本质). You become a better partner because you understand how your colleagues came to be (变成现在的样子)who they are. And counterintuitively(反直觉的) you become wiser about the future because you saw its seeds being sown(播撒) in the past. (see something done)

Faced with new people and new situations, it will take you a little time to(摆正姿势) orient yourself, but you must give yourself this time. You must discipline (约束/惩罚)yourself to ask the questions and allow the blueprints to emerge because no matter what the situation, if you haven't seen the blueprints, you will have less confidence in your decisions.

How to manage a person strong in context:

- When you ask this person to do something, take time to explain the thinking that led to this action.

- When you introduce him to new colleagues, ask these colleagues to talk about their background before you all get down to business.

- During meetings always turn to him to review what has been done and what has been learned up to the present time.

- He thinks in terms of case studies, that is, when did we meet a similar situation, what did we do, what happened, what did we learn?

- He can do the same in relation to your organization's culture.
