北国风光，千里冰封，万里雪飘。望长城内外，惟余莽莽；大河上下，顿失滔滔。山舞银蛇，原驰蜡象，欲与天公试比高。须晴日，看红装素裹，分外妖娆。
江山如此多娇，引无数英雄竞折腰。
惜秦皇汉武，略输文采；唐宗宋祖，稍逊风骚。一代天骄，成吉思汗，只识弯弓射大雕。俱往矣，数风流人物，还看今朝。
【译文】
丛横千万里的北方大地上冰冻了大雪纷飞。长城内外只剩下白茫茫一片；黄河上下游顿时失去了滔滔水势。山岭好像银白色的蟒蛇在飞舞，高原上的丘陵像许多白象在奔跑。它们都想试着与老天爷一较高下。晴天红艳艳的阳光和白皑皑的冰雪交相辉映，分外娇艳美好。
江山如此娇媚，引得无数英雄竞相倾倒。只可惜秦始皇、汉武帝文学才华略微逊色；唐太宗、宋太祖文治功劳有所欠缺。称雄一世的成吉思汗，只会张弓搭箭射雕。这些人物全都成为了过去，能称得上是大有做为的英雄人物的，还要看今天的人们啊。

1.北国：中国北部。
2.惟余：只剩下。
3.莽莽：无边无际。
4.顿失滔滔：黄河冰冻立刻失去了波涛滚滚的气势。
5.原驰蜡象：高原上的丘陵好像许多白象在奔跑。
6.天公：指天，即命运。
7.须：等到。
8.红装素裹：形容雪后天晴，红日和白雪交相辉映。
9.折腰：倾倒，躬着腰侍候，这里是说争着为江山奔走操劳。
10.秦皇：秦始皇嬴政（前259~前210）。
11.汉武：汉武帝刘彻（前156~前87）。
12.文采：辞藻、才华。
13.唐宗：唐太宗李世民(599~649）。
14.宋祖：宋太祖赵匡胤（927~976）。
15.风骚：本指《诗经》里的《国风》和《楚辞》里的《离骚》，后来泛指文章辞藻。
16.天骄，“天之骄子”的省略语，意为上天所骄纵宠爱的杰出人物。
17.成吉思汗（hán）：元太祖铁木真（1162~1227）在1206年统一蒙古后的尊称，意为“强者之汗”（汗是可汗的省称，即王）。
18.俱往矣：都已成为过去。
19.风流人物：英俊潇洒杰出不凡的人物。
【英译】
How magnificent the scenery is. Northland is all covered with ice for thousands of miles,with heavy snow falling. Both inside and outside the Great Wall lies a vast expanse of whiteness.The torrential water of the Yellow River stops flowing suddenly. Mountains are dancing like silver-white snakes，and hills on the plateau running like white elephants,as if trying to contest with the Heaven. When it’s fine ,the red sun and the white snow and ice add radiance to each other. What an enchanting sight.
Our country is so rich in beauty that countless heroes compete to bend over. Unfortunately First Emperor of Qin and Martial Emperor of the Han Dynasty had not enough literary talent. And Emperor Taizong of Tang and Emperor Taizu of Song were slightly inferior in literary excellence. Genghis Khan ,God’s favored one ,was only good at shooting eagles with his arrow and bow. All are past and gone,and those who can be counted as truly great men live in our present time.
