What is Globalization?
According to the Dictionary of Oxford, globalization is the fact that different cultures and economic systems around the world are becoming connected and similar to each other because of the influence of large multinational companies and of improved communication.
How Did Globalization Begin?
At very beginning, people didn't know about the civilizations far away until Columbus found the new continent. From then on, all of the countries on the Earth have been discovered. Trades and world wars appeared, nonetheless, it is still not convenient enough for countries to communicate with each other to form globalization.
Centuries later, as the technique has been developing, mobile phones existed, which can build connection all over the world easily. Thus, even common people can talk to people from the other side of the earth comfortably at home, that is, countries are connected by the Internet, and people of different countries are connected. Globalization then begins.
What Can We Gain From Globalization?
Firstly, economy becomes better because of globalization since it takes less cost to produce products by using cheaper materials bought from other countries, so they are also sold cheaper and are able to attract more costumers, who bust the economy growth.
Secondly, countries can help each other to work better since they have various advantages and disadvantages. For example, country A may has better economy, while country B has cutting-edge technique. They can work together by signing a contract which claims that country A should decrease its customs to country B and country B should envoy its top scientists to country A in order to help A with making pioneer weapon.
Backwards Of Globalization
The backward of globalization is that once a downside issue has taken place in one country, others or even the whole world may will also be affected. To solve these issues, all of the countries should work together seriously and actively, while solidarity is strictly needed. Global warming is a good example. It initially took place in Europe at mid-century when industry there were developing rapidly, and now global warming is a problem that the whole world is facing and working on. What's more, once a country has done something that exacerbate the global warming issue, the United Nations will have to work harder with each country to set stricter rules in order to stop the issue from being even worse. Even though, some countries still do not obey the rules and damage the environment for their own benefits, and this is a big problem to other countries that are working hard. Japan had discharged nuclear wastewater into the Pacific, and the ocean has been polluted. It only takes time to affect everyone on the Earth. Thus, we should be a unity to work out global problems.
