A long drought dried the fields into cracks.
More than half of stalks appeared collapsed.
Here came dark clouds in the evening.
Gust wind brought rain to fields in pouring
Mom walked alone on the muddy trails
To make ducts using her feet and nails.
Preserving water lit up her soul,
She came home with dirt as the sun rose.

久旱田龟裂，禾苗色半枯。
乌云随暮至，夜雨带风呼。
野径孤身没，沟渠两手出。
荷锄迎日返，蓄水满身污。
