1、Why do you want to be an Area Director? What’s your understanding of this role?

Since I join in toastmaster,I heard everyone said that Toastmaster is where leaders are made.As for me,the leadership is more like aspecial experience.I want to take this special experience in my lifetime，so I dream for it since   long  long ago.What would I feel if I were a president?What would I feel if I were an Area Director.What would I think and what would I do?I am born as a experiencer,I want to know so I want to try.

In my understanding,the Area Director is the connection between district and clubs.we provide more specific support.For example，we need to help division to organize COT or NMO,and we need to help club president to achive DCP.I need to visit clubs,write clup visit report and help president to solve their problems.

2、What’s your understanding of Toastmasters International’s Mission, District Mission and Club Mission?

In my view, the district and club mission break down and refine Toastmaster's mission. Organization want to empower individuals, so district build clubs and clubs support members. Different mission, same goal. They're like different parts of a machine.

3、What’s your understanding of district recognition program?

PDA for area director  just like DCP for president.I need to visit the clubs in my Areas at least twice a year and offer my support.IF  75% clubs of my area get honor of distinguished club and I can achive net club growth of one,I'll earn recognition of president's distinguished area .

4、Top 3 challenges you’ve ever met in Toastmasters and howto overcome them?

The first challenge is my ice-breaking speech.I wonder how to act it and introduce myself properly,SI am totally no idea and it confused me for almost a week.And one day when I ate my lunch,an idea came to my mind.Finally I finished my ice-breaking,and got the best speech that night.

The second challenge is how to be a good president.To be a good president is a big deal for this while，cause the COVID-19。.Every left of my member made me feel diffident.I didn’t want to make my members upset so I took on most of work——and most pressure either.Sometime I asked myself why.Half year past,through constant profound consideration , now I know the real meaning of leadership——see others,inspire others,lead others move forward.

The third challenge is this interview.I used to be good at English but it is 5 years I haven’t use English since I graduated from school.At first I felt hesitate because I don’t know if I could do it well.what if I don’t how to express my opinion in English?What if I can’t understand the chinese  meaning of your question?After all,we use mandarin in my home club.But finally I convinced myself to try.I believe myself.I told myself I can do everything only if I want.

5、How much do you know about the clubs in your Area?

60% familiarity.There are three clubs in my Area.AACTP.Guangzhou is my first club,I know every member of it.Liwan Fantasy is just like my old friend,it set up at the same time as my home club,and I know Fantasy’s situation is not optimistic.It has only 12 members now.As to lawyer club,I’ve heard people there are very individualistic.I’m curious about them.

6、How much do you know about Toastmasters International Website?

I know how to log in pathway,club center and check the point on dashboard.

7、What’s your plan as an Area Director, specially in goal for this term and new clubs building?

I want to get PDA this year and build a new club in panyu.Because I live in panyu and I found that there is only one club there.So many times I was asked by others "Why there are so few clubs in panyu?"when I recommend toastmaster to my friend,or "Although I wanna to try,but Tianhe is too far away!"So I want to build a new club in panyu and let more people could join us.

8、How can you manage your time for your work, study, daily life and Toastmasters as an Area Director?

I asked Kate the same question last year.And she told me:"There is no balance but only choose."Choose to be a Area Director mean sacrificing time with friend,game,shopping and movie.I have no boyfriends and family here，all I want now is to prove myself and promote my leadership.Every choose  I made makes who I am.I choose to be a Area Director ,and I will take the response.There is no regrets and no excuses.
