实用英语：“答非所问”怎么说？

答非所问这个成语出自清·文康《儿女英雄传》。意思是“回答的不是所问的内容”。

这在日常用语里也是常用的，来看一下以下的几个翻译版本。

1. give an irrelevant answer

irrelevant这个形容词的意思“不恰当的；无关系的；不相干的”。

Our discussions got bogged down in irrelevant detail.

我们的讨论纠缠在无关紧要的细节上。

That is a separate issue and irrelevant to our discussion.

这是另一个问题，同我们的讨论无关。

很明显，这是relevant的反义词。

relevant：相关的；切题的；中肯的；有重大关系的；有意义的，目的明确的。

ir是否定前缀，首子母以r开头时，就要使用字首 ir，比如：

beside the point是常用搭配，表示不重要的；离题的，不相关的。
