The woman said to him, "Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?”—John 4:11
“…the well is deep.” This is deeper than the Samaritan Woman thought. Thinking about human nature deep, the secret of life, and the deep of our hearts, whether do we limit Jesus’s work? Because of these reasons, he can’t start to work in our life. If we have a big trouble as a deep well without a bottom, Jesus will say to us:” Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Maybe we will shrug and say:” but, the Lord, the well is too deep. I can’t gain the water with the peace and comfort.” The fact is that Jesus will grant energy from the holy spirt instead of human’s well to fetch the water. If we only remember that God did some great things in the past for us, or we say: “we don’t expect that God does it like this.” In the way, we limit the work of Israel ‘s saint. Only the things can be done by the Almighty, the disciples should believe that Jesus can finish it. If we forget his almighty, it means that we limit his work. Jesus’s work is limited by us, but He doesn’t limit his own. We only receive that Jesus is our comfort, sympathizer, but not to receive him becoming the almighty.
Many of us became the worst Christian. The main reason is that we don’t put the almighty Jesus Christ in the hearts. We have the Christians’ disposition and experience, but we wouldn’t like to cast ourselves on Christ Jesus and surrender to God. When we face the difficulties, we maybe say:” He is helplessness.” This also means that we limit God’s work. We struggle in the bottom of the well and want to fetch water. When we give up, we will say comfortably :“This is impossible”. In fact, so long as we look up Jesus, the thing can be successful. Though our lack is like the deep well, once we try our best to look up God, but not ourselves…
