Among the colourful handkerchiefs waving towards you,

在向你挥舞的各色花帕中

Whose hand was suddenly drawn back,

是谁的手突然收回

And tightly put to her eyes?

紧紧捂住了自己的眼睛

When people had all left, who

当人们四散离去，谁

Still stood in the stern,

还站在船尾

Whose sleeves and skirt swung like the billowing clouds,

衣裙漫飞，如翻涌不息的云

With the noise of the waves of the river,

When they're high,

高一声

And when they're low.

低一声

Beautiful dreams produce beautiful sorrows,

美丽的梦留下美丽的忧伤

Both on earth and in heaven, from generation to generation.

人间天上，代代相传

However, can hearts

但是，心

Really become stones?

真能变成石头吗

In order to see the far cranes on the horizon,

为眺望远天的杳鹤

Innumerable bright moon of spring river has been missed.

错过无数次春江月明

Along the riverside,

沿着江岸

The torrent of coneflowers and privets,

金光菊和女贞子的洪流

Is fomenting the new betrayal.

正煽动新的背叛

They would rather cry a whole night on the shoulders of their love,

与其在悬崖上展览千年

Than be displayed on the cliff for thousand years.

不如在爱人肩头痛哭一晚
