绝命诗

My Last Song

作者：通州乞丐（清代）

By a Beggar of Tongzhou (Qing Dynasty)

身世浑如水上鸥，

又携竹杖过南州。

My life is like a gull on water’s flow, 

With bamboo cane, through southern lands I go. 

饭囊傍晚盛残月，

歌板临风唱晓秋。

My bowl holds but the moon’s reflection late, 

I sing of autumn’s dawn to winds that blow. 

两脚踢翻尘世界，

一肩挑尽古今愁。

I kick away the dusty world’s dark plight, 

And bear the weight of ancient sorrows’ night. 

而今不食嗟来食，

黄犬何须吠不休。

I starve, yet scorn the alms of pity’s hand— 

Why must the yellow dog still bark and bark? 

【注释】

饭囊：指乞丐用来盛饭的口袋

南州：泛指南方地区

歌板：即拍板，歌唱时用以打拍子，故名

晓秋：拂晓时的秋意，寓意着寒凉

嗟来食：即嗟来之食，带有侮辱性的施舍

【白话译文】

我的身世如水上的鸥鸟般漂泊无依，

带着竹杖走过南州。

傍晚时，饭囊里只有残月的影子，

我迎着秋风，用歌板唱着晓秋。

我用双脚踢开尘世的纷扰，

用肩膀挑起古今的忧愁。

如今我不接受嗟来之食，

黄狗你为何还吠叫不休？
