这是一本情节非常有趣的故事书，没有什么重复句式，但是句式短小精悍，用词也简单，所以低幼的小朋友也是可以理解的。作者Don Wood更是以夸张的动作和生动的表情淋漓尽致地刻画了一只小老鼠的形象，一开始被叫住的茫然，听说大熊时的惊讶，被吓住的呆滞，夺路而逃的惊慌，藏起草莓的慌张，伪装草莓后的假装镇定，得到解决方法时的宽心，享用草莓时的满足等等，家长在共读的时候，可以和孩子一起认真观察小老鼠的每一个神态动作，然后让孩子来扮演这只小老鼠，他们一定会非常乐意的。
