At present, when it comes to school education, some hold that studying history at school is of great importance for kids, while others assume that other courses are more valuable and useful to pupils’ development. From my perspective, despite the significance of learning history, studying other subjects is equally important for children's growth.

It is universally known that history often repeats itself, so learning about past mistakes along with examples of the losses those mistakes can cause may give any child a stern warning as to why he or she should not repeat them. Furthermore, it is frequently said that the winner of a war always exaggerates his victory and the loser of a war minimizes his failure; therefore, in the process of reading, learning and comparing various historical documents, children's discrimination and judgment will be improved accordingly.

There is no denying that learning history is beneficial for children; nevertheless, it is also necessary for pupils to study other subjects at the same time. To begin with, subjects that can enhance kids’ reading, writing and arithmetic abilities should be taught at school. In addition, appropriate music, art, dance, science, and sports courses which can motivate children are also indispensable in the primary education.

Besides curriculum of improving children’s academic performance, it is essential to provide courses for developing their social skills such as displaying good manners, communicating effectively with peers, being considerate of the feelings of others and expressing personal needs and so forth. For instance, home economics is a wonderful course to impart social knowledge to kids. Children learn not only how to cooperate and collaborate with others but also how to manage time and money in home economics class.

All in all, it is true that history education matters for children at school; however, other subjects are of cardinal significance.
