五月里一个伟大的灵魂升腾
草木葱茏的水岸人流如潮
A great soul rises in May
The flow of people on the verdant river banks is like a tide
如此辽阔的江水
让奔腾变得宁静
Such a vast river
Makes the surging torrent quiet
如此虔诚祭撒的香粽
让千古的沉重变得轻盈
The rice dumplings sprinkled with such pious sacrifice make the heaviness of the ages light

总喜欢静静地看着这水草里
那一尾尾精灵惬意地游动
Always I like to quietly watch in the aquatic plants
The sylphlike fishes swimming cosily
仿佛看见两千多年前
从江岸上纵身一跃的身影
I seem to see a figure over 2000 years ago
Leaping from the bank of the river
连同渔民撕心裂肺的呼号
疼痛了湘楚直至今日的天空
那绽放的瞬间定格成永恒
Together with the gut-wrenching cry of fishers
Which has been paining the sky of Xiangchu to this day
The blooming moment is fixed to eternity

江岸青草绿江上数峰青
烟波浩渺里九歌遥和湘灵韵
Always I like to stroll at dusk in May
The grass grows lush on the banks and there’re green peaks by the river
The Nine Songs are in harmony with Qu Yuan’s poetry in the vastness of the misty waves
生前，你的一切属于楚国
死后，楚国的一切与你相牵
古老的国度因为你的一跃
浪漫飘逸的求索文化流传至今
When you were alive, everything about you belonged to the State of Chu
After death, everything in the State of Chu is connected with you
In the old country, because of your leap The romantic and elegant truth-seeking culture has been handed down to this day
一条江因你的名字永远鲜活
那些远古的香草美人
在你的诗里依旧芬芳似锦
A river is lively and well-known for your name forever
Those ancient scent herbs and beauties
Are still fragrant and brilliant in your poems
那些远古的河风山雨
在你的诗中依旧飘摇不定
Those ancient river winds and mountain rain
Are still wavering in your poems

In the past, you walked away with the sea
Today, younger generations ride through the waves in long boats
你以生命毅然为楚国殉葬
你以另一种永生复活民族精神

You have resurrected the national spirit with another kind of eternal life
五月，全世界都在用龙舟划出
一片片辉煌灿烂的天空
In May, the whole world is rowing out with dragon boats
