Sadhguru:Sometime ago, someone brought a man to me. He was depressed and broken and wanted to commit suicide. Why? Because about five years ago, he was worth three thousand crores. Then he played in the stock market and things went a little wrong, and his worth dived a little bit. When he came to me, he was worthonlytwo hundred and fifty crores. So he wanted to commitsuicide. Most people in India, if you give them that much money and tell them, “Do you want the money or do you want to go to heaven,” they will ask for the money. But this man is broken! If you keep money in your pocket, it is great. But if it enters your head, it becomes misery because that is not its place.

萨古鲁：前些时候，有人把一个男人带到我面前。他因为破产而万念俱灰，想要自杀。为什么呢？因为五年前，他身价300亿卢比，然后他开始玩股票，股市出了状况，导致他的身价下跌。他来找我时，身价只有25亿卢比。所以他想自杀。在印度，如果你把这么多钱给人们，并问他们是要金钱还是去天堂，大多人会选择金钱。但是这个男人被击垮了。如果你把钱保存在口袋里，这很棒，但是一旦金钱进入你的脑袋，它就会成为痛苦，因为头脑不是金钱应该待的地方。

What we need in the world is not just “wealth creation.” We need to createwellbeing. Wealth is just one of the tools towards human wellbeing, not the whole of it. Wealth means making the outside pleasant for ourselves. But right now, people are going at it like it is a religion. Money is just a means; it is not an end by itself. We are making it too big for nothing. Is it bad? Is it good? It is neither; it is just a tool that we created. We must understand that no one is aspiring for money. That may sound ridiculous, but I am saying it is not themoneythat they want. It is just that money has become the means for what they consider as a better life.

在这个世界，我们需要的不只是创造财富，我们需要创造幸福。财富只是人类获得幸福的工具之一，而不是生命的全部。财富使我们的外在舒适，但现在，人们追求财富就像信奉宗教一样。金钱只是一种手段，它本身不是最终目的。我们在徒劳地夸大金钱，这是好事还是坏事？都不是；金钱只是我们创造的一种工具。我们必须明白没有人渴望金钱，这看似有点荒唐，但人们追求的并不是金钱本身，人们认为金钱是一种获得更好生活的途径。

Everyone wants their life to be pleasant. When we say pleasant, pleasantness happens in five different ways. If your body becomes very pleasant we call it pleasure. If your mind becomes pleasant, we call itpeace; if it becomes very pleasant we call it joy. If your emotions become pleasant we call itlove; if they become very pleasant we call itcompassion. If your life energies become pleasant we call it bliss, and if they become very pleasant we call it ecstasy. If your surroundings become pleasant, you call itsuccess. This is all you want, isn’t it? “No, I want to go to heaven.” Why do you want to go to heaven – because the “advertisements” have always said it is a very pleasant place. All you want is pleasantness, and right now you believe that in this world, money can buy it for you, which is partially correct.

But money can only create external pleasantness, it cannot create inner pleasantness. If you have a lot of money, you can stay in a five-star hotel, but if your body, mind, emotions and energy are not pleasant, would you enjoy your five-star hotel? No. If these four are very pleasant, you could even enjoy yourself under a tree. Does that mean you should not have money? No, but the priority should be considered – which should come first? If these four things within you are very pleasant, and you also have money, you can make the outside also pleasant. So there is nothing right or wrong about money. It is a certain means. It is just that if money does not stay in your pockets and goes into your head, misery will come.

但是金钱只能创造外在的舒适，它不能创造内在的舒适。如果你很富裕，你可以住在五星级酒店里，但是如若你的身体、头脑、情感和能量不舒适，你还会享受五星级酒店吗？不会的。如果这四者非常舒适，即便是在一棵树下，你也能好好享受。这是否意味着你不应该拥有金钱？不，但是你必须考虑什么享有优先权——什么才是最重要的？如果你内在这四样东西非常舒适，同时你也有钱，那么你也可以让外在的环境舒适。金钱本身没有对错，它是一种手段。如果金钱不是保存在你的口袋里，而是进入你的头脑，痛苦就会到来。
