子曰:"弟子入则孝,出则悌,谨而信,泛爱众,而亲仁。行有余力,则以学文"。
The Mater said, A young man's duty is to behave well to his parents at home and to his elders abroad, to be cautious in giving promises and punctual in keeping them, to have kindly feelings towards everyone, but seek the intimacy of the Good. If, when all that is done, he has any energy to spare, then let him study the polite arts.
Confucius remarked, "A young man, when at home, should be a good son, when out in the world, a good citizen. He should be circumspect and trustful. He should be in sympathy with all men , but intimate with men of moral character. If he has time and opportunity to spare, after the performance of those duties, he should then employ them in literary pursuits."
The Mater said, "Young people, when at home, should observe filial piety; when out in the world, should show fraternal love; should be prudent and trustworthy; should broadly love the multitude, but be intimate (only) with humane people. After implementing these principles, andy remaining strength is the ndevoted to cultural studies."

# Vocabulary#
If you describe something as filial, you're saying it's offspring-related. Depending on who your parents are, your filial duties might include taking out the trash, washing dishes, or ruling empires.
The word filial comes from the Latin words filius, which means "son," and filia, or "daughter." In other words, filial is the filius of filius. One way of remembering the word is to think of a filly, a young horse. The two words aren't related, but it's fun to put them in the same sentence: "The filly's filial love made the mare a happy horse."
The adverb broadly is useful for describing something that's done in a general or approximate way. If you're broadly describing your new job, you're giving just the basic idea of it and leaving out the details.
You're likely to see the word broadly within the phrase "broadly speaking." People often say this to mean "in general" or "on average." The word can also be used in a more literal way to mean "widely," as when you say, "The teacher seemed a little scary until she smiled broadly and welcomed them to class."
