Being a receptionist gave me the opportunity to meet different people every day, some were nice, some were funny, some were indfferent and some were easy to forget. There was this man I regarded to be rude. Truth to be told, I seldom conisder one to be rude, but this one was an exception. I'm sure you couldn't agree more after you hear my side of the story.
It was a more than usual afternoon, I was having my daily routine checking how many rooms left of the day. A bald man with a white T-shirt and Khaki shorts walked in and required to take a look at the room. My colleague asked me to show the man the room on the third floor. We entered the room, I introduced him he room and said what I was supposed to say. Suddenly he went into the bathroom, turned on the light and closed the door. I was shocked and didn't have a clue about what he was going to do. And then I heard the noise, it was too late after I realized he was there in the bathroom taking a shit. He said a few seconds later, do not turn off the light. I was like, "Excuse Me?????" I stood there, so pissed, I was this close to scream. And the noise he made inside really made me sick, it was gross. I couldn't help thinking what kind of creature he was, how could he be so rude. This was beyong impolite, taking a dump in the bathroom, having me stand outside and wait until he's finished.
I had this poker face when he's done and came out the bathroom. He went downstaris directly. I was quite angry, he treated me because he wanted to go to the bathroom not that he needed a room. He could have told us and asked where the toilet was, but he lied. I wanted to tell my colleague but I decided not to finally. Half an hour later, the man came back with his girlfriend, he said they didn't find any better room nearby and wanted a room in our hotel. I gave the room he used before to them. I saw that he's from Changsha when checked thier IDs and his girlfriend was 10 years younger than him. Although he bought the room finally, I couldn't forgive what he had done before, since he lied first after all.
The man and his girlfriend stayed one night in our hotel and he tried to take the non-disposable plastic slippers away when he left. He left it in the lobby when we told him not to. The man said that it seemed that like their stay here were not quite welcome, since I never smiled at him and always pouted. My colleague tried to defend on my behalf, but I didn't let her. I spitted out everything, including what he had done. He was a litlle embarassed yet not sorry, and her girlfriend giggled. He said he lived with some famous celebrities in the same nerboughood in Changsha and that he could help me get their autoghraph someday in if I came to Changsha. And I was like, "Humph! who cares!"
And they left, finally. I was so relieved, guess it is quite difficult to face the people you don't like, especially when you are supposed to be nice and smile at them. I admit that I was not a good receptionist, a good one should put her resentment behind whenever facing a guest, instead of showing in it on her face. Well, it all came back to what I said before again, we know everything, but we just can't fake it.
