This is a story about a tortoise.这是一个关于一只乌龟的故事。He had everything a tortoise could want.乌龟想要的东西，他都有了。He had a lovely log to sit on,他有一根可爱的木头可以坐，
juicy apples to eat，多汁的苹果可以吃，and a very shiny shell.还有一个亮闪闪的龟壳。But he wasn’t happy.但是他并不快乐。
All day long, he saw an eagle in the sky.乌龟望着天上的老鹰，就这样看了一整天。Flying low. Flying high.只见老鹰一会儿飞得很低。一会儿飞得很高。It had golden feathers and great big wings.它有着金色的羽毛和巨大的翅膀。
“I wish I could fly,” said the tortoise.“I’ll try.”乌龟想，“如果我也能飞，那该多好啊！”“我一定要试试。”He climbed onto a rock…他努力爬上了岩石，jumped into the air…跳向空中……and flopped onto his belly.然后，他的肚子重重的摔在了地上。“OOF!”“好疼啊！”
He climbed up a tree…只见他奋力爬上了一棵树……jumped into the air…跳到空中，and landed splat in a puddle.只听到啪嗒一声，他掉进了一个水坑里。
He called to the eagle.他呼唤天空中的老鹰。“Will you take me into the sky?“你能把我带到天上吗？I want to be like you.”我想和你一样在天上飞。”“What will you give me?” the eagle replied.老鹰回答说，“你能给我什么作为交换呢？”
“You can have my log and my apples.”“你可以得到我的木头和苹果。”“Very well,” said the eagle.“I will take you into the sky.”“很好”老鹰说，“我会把你带到天上的。”
Up and up the eagle rose… 老鹰越飞越高……up through the clouds to the bright blue sky.很快他就穿过云层来到蔚蓝色的天空。“Hold on!”老鹰大喊道：“抓紧了！”
The tortoise looked at the ground.乌龟低头看着地面。It was a very long way down.他们离地面很远很远。He felt dizzy.他觉得头晕了。“Eagle,” he said. “I don’t like it up here.”“老鹰”，乌龟说道。“我不喜欢待在这里。”“Please take me back!”“请带我回去吧！”
So the eagle took the tortoise back to the ground.于是老鹰只好把乌龟带回了地面。
“Little tortoise,” said the eagle.“You have no feathers and no wings.”“小乌龟，”老鹰说，“你没有羽毛也没有翅膀。”“You’re not made for flying.”“你生来就不是飞翔的料。”“Keep your apples and your log.”“Be happy.”“还是留着你的苹果和木头，开心的过自己的生活吧。“
The tortoise smiled.乌龟开心地笑了。He watched the eagle go.目送老鹰飞走后。He ate his apples.他吃着苹果，
He sat on his log.
又坐回到他的木头上。And he no longer wanted to fly.他再也不会想学习飞翔了。
